Springfield is Western Massachusetts. It is the largest city in the region and its housing stock reflects that history in full: 1890s Victorian single-families and triple-deckers in the McKnight Historic District, brick row houses in the South End, mid-century ranches throughout Sixteen Acres, and large apartment complexes across Mason Square and the North End. That kind of range means we see every plumbing situation the city has to offer, from galvanized supply lines in a Forest Park Victorian to a failed water heater in a Sixteen Acres split-level to a boiler room replacement for a 30-unit building on State Street.
Water heater replacement is a constant call from Springfield homeowners. We install gas and electric tank and tankless units from A.O. Smith, Bradford White, Navien, and Rheem. If a repair makes sense, we do that rather than push a replacement. No upselling when the unit has life left.
Residential A/C installation is growing steadily across Springfield. The McKnight Historic District, Forest Park, and Indian Orchard all have large homes built long before central air was standard. We size and install split systems and heat pumps that fit the existing floor plan, pull permits, and back the work with a 1-year labor warranty.
Burst pipe, failed water heater, or flooded basement? Biermann offers 24/7 emergency plumbing in Springfield for existing customers, with typical response in 15 to 30 minutes from our West Springfield shop across the Memorial Bridge.
Galvanized replacement, copper and PEX repiping, frozen pipe repair, and joint leak fixes in Springfield homes and multi-families.
Tank and tankless water heater replacement. Boiler service for steam and hot-water radiator systems throughout Springfield's older homes.
Split system and heat pump installation for Springfield homes. Seasonal tune-ups and repairs on existing equipment throughout Hampden County.
Hidden leaks behind walls and under slabs. Unexplained water bills, damp spots, and low pressure traced to the source without unnecessary demolition.
Toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, lavatories, and mop sinks. Bathroom and kitchen remodel plumbing rough-in and trim-out for Springfield homes.
Sump pump installation and replacement for Springfield basements. Ejector and condensate pumps serviced and swapped by licensed plumbers.

Springfield has more multi-family rental housing than any city in Western Massachusetts. Triple-deckers, large apartment buildings, condo associations, and mixed-use blocks are spread across every neighborhood, and property managers keeping those buildings running need a mechanical contractor who can handle both plumbing and HVAC under one roof. We work with Springfield property managers on ongoing service programs, boiler and water heater replacements for whole buildings, and common-area plumbing repairs that minimize tenant disruption.
The commercial base is substantial too. Medical offices, dental practices, banks, and mixed-use buildings along Main Street and Chestnut Street require the same careful, occupied-space approach we bring to residential multi-family. We handle backflow preventer testing and certification where licensed, gas piping for building systems, HVAC service for rooftop units and split systems, and tenant fit-out plumbing for change-of-use renovations.
Springfield’s building stock ranges from 19th-century brick to mid-century concrete block to newer infill construction near the MGM casino district. We have the commercial project experience to work alongside GCs in occupied and active-use buildings without turning a mechanical service call into an extended shutdown.
Apartment buildings, condo associations, and triple-deckers throughout Springfield. Ongoing service programs and capital project work.
Dental clinics, medical offices, banks, and retail throughout the city. Service and small projects in sensitive, occupied commercial environments.
Prevailing wage projects for City of Springfield buildings. Schools, public safety buildings, and public works facilities. Certified payroll and close-out documentation.

Springfield is the largest city in Western Massachusetts and its housing stock reflects more than a century of growth in every direction. The McKnight Historic District alone has over 400 Victorian-era homes, many of them now owner-occupied or converted to two- and three-family rentals. Original galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drain stacks, and steam boilers that have been running since the 1920s are the norm in those neighborhoods. We know how to work in them without turning a routine service call into a gut-renovation.
Forest Park has its own character: tree-lined streets, well-kept homes from the early 20th century, and a mix of long-term owners and rental conversions. Sixteen Acres, to the east, is post-war ranch and split-level territory, now squarely in water heater, A/C upgrade, and fixture replacement service windows. Mason Square and the North End carry the highest rental density in the city, and the calls from those neighborhoods are typically whole-building mechanical work for property managers, not individual homeowners.
Springfield also has an active city-run lead service line replacement program. Older neighborhoods on the pre-1950 water grid are being prioritized for exterior line replacement by the city, and homeowners in those areas are looking for licensed plumbers to address the interior portion. We handle that side of the work: interior lead line replacement, reconnection to the city supply, and code compliance corrections as needed.
Our shop is on Riverdale Street in West Springfield, 5 to 10 minutes from Springfield’s city center via the Memorial Bridge or I-91. We cross that bridge regularly. Springfield is not a city we route through on the way to somewhere else. It is one of our primary service markets.

Had a great experience calling Biermann as a first time customer dealing with an ill-timed heating issue in below-zero temperatures. Bill was thorough, quick, respectful and helpful in explaining possible issues. Highly recommend.

“Responsive, prompt, excellent work.”
Yes. Springfield homeowners are a primary part of our business. We handle water heater replacement, pipe repair and repiping, leak detection, fixture installation, gas line work, water filtration, sump and ejector pumps, A/C installation, heat pump systems, and thermostat upgrades. Victorian triple-deckers in Forest Park, McKnight Historic District single-families, mid-century ranches in Sixteen Acres, and apartments throughout Mason Square are all in our wheelhouse. Call (413) 547-2970 and tell us what is going on.
Our shop is at 2025 Riverdale Street in West Springfield, directly across the Connecticut River from Springfield. We are typically 5 to 10 minutes from the city center. Springfield is our most frequently served neighboring city, and we run trucks through all its neighborhoods on a regular basis. Short scheduling windows and fast response for existing customers.
Yes. The City of Springfield has an active lead service line replacement initiative covering older neighborhoods served by aging city infrastructure. If your home is flagged for replacement or you want to address your interior lead service line proactively, we handle the plumbing side: disconnection, replacement of the interior line with copper or PEX, reconnection to the city supply, and any code compliance corrections needed along the way. MA Master Plumber license #16160.
That is one of the most common calls we get from Springfield. The 1890s through 1920s housing stock in Forest Park, McKnight, and throughout the South End was originally plumbed with galvanized steel supply lines. Many of those lines are now corroded, undersized, and losing pressure. We replace galvanized with copper or PEX, can work unit by unit or whole building, and coordinate water shut-offs to keep tenants on water as much as possible. MA Master Plumber license #16160.
Yes. Residential A/C installation is our fastest-growing service and we work throughout all Springfield neighborhoods. Forest Park Victorians, McKnight colonials, Sixteen Acres ranches, and dense apartment buildings in Mason Square and the North End are all projects we take on. Many Springfield homes were never designed for central air, and we size and install split systems and heat pumps that fit the existing floor plan without major structural changes. Call (413) 547-2970 for a free consultation.
Absolutely. Springfield has one of the largest concentrations of multi-family rental housing in Western Massachusetts, and property managers overseeing apartment buildings, triple-deckers, and condo associations are a core part of our commercial customer base. We set up ongoing service programs, replace boilers and water heaters for whole buildings, handle common-area plumbing repairs with coordinated tenant notice, and are experienced working in occupied buildings with minimal disruption.
Yes. We work with municipalities on plumbing and HVAC projects for schools, public safety buildings, and public works facilities throughout Western Massachusetts. Our team handles the public bidding process, prevailing wage compliance, certified payrolls, and close-out documentation. If you are a municipal facility manager or public works contact in Springfield, call us at (413) 547-2970 to discuss a project.
