When the A/C dies on a 95-degree afternoon, the last thing a homeowner wants is a week of phone tag with three different contractors. Biermann handles residential and light commercial HVAC in-house: air conditioning installation and repair, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, thermostats, controls, indoor air quality upgrades, and seasonal maintenance plans.
Residential and light commercial air conditioning is our growth department. It runs out of the same West Springfield shop that has been handling Western Mass plumbing since 1983, with the same licensed crew, the same code-compliant workmanship, and the same 1-year labor warranty on every new install.
For homeowners, that means a real local team answering the phone, showing up in a branded truck, and sizing your equipment properly instead of guessing. For property managers and facility owners, it means one point of contact for apartment HVAC, rooftop units on retail and office buildings, and ongoing service across multiple sites.

Air-source heat pumps and ductless mini-splits for homes and light commercial. Single-zone, multi-zone, hybrid systems.
Smart thermostat upgrades, zoning controls, and building automation for homes and small commercial properties.
Advanced filtration, humidification, and dehumidification for homes, dental offices, and multi-residential buildings.

Homes come first. Light commercial follows. Sheetmetal is handled by vetted specialty partners, and we coordinate the entire project so you deal with one team.
Homeowners across Western Mass call us for the same handful of problems every summer. The A/C quits on the hottest weekend of the year. An older central air system keeps tripping the breaker. One bedroom never gets cool while the rest of the house freezes. A first-time homeowner wants central air added to a house that has never had it. We handle all of it: full central air installation, split-system replacements, repair and diagnostic work on existing equipment, and upgrades to modern, more efficient systems.
Every install starts with a real load review (not a guess off the square footage) and proper equipment selection. We size your system so it actually cools the house evenly, handles humidity correctly, and does not short-cycle itself into early retirement. Every new A/C install comes with a 1-year labor warranty and the same local crew that has been doing plumbing and heating in the region since 1983.
Heat pumps and ductless mini-splits have become the fastest-growing corner of our HVAC department. For homeowners, a mini-split solves three problems at once: a single outdoor unit and one or more indoor heads give you efficient A/C in summer and supplemental heat in shoulder seasons, without tearing the house apart to add ductwork. Multi-zone systems let you condition a finished basement, an attic bedroom, or a sunroom without touching your existing heat.
For light commercial properties, condo associations, and small multi-family buildings, heat pumps paired with a backup heat source are often the most cost-effective path to year-round comfort. We install cold-climate air-source heat pumps rated for Western Mass winters, handle refrigerant line runs cleanly through finished spaces, and pair equipment with smart thermostats so you can tune and monitor the system remotely.
Apartment complexes, medical and dental offices, banks, retail spaces, and small office buildings all need reliable heating and cooling without the noise and disruption of a job site. Our light commercial HVAC work includes rooftop unit (RTU) installation and replacement, split-system service across multi-tenant buildings, ongoing seasonal maintenance, and planned capital upgrades as existing equipment reaches end of life.
Facility managers and property owners get one point of contact, clean worksites, and technicians trained to work quietly in occupied spaces. For ground-up commercial construction, we provide design-assist support, load reviews, and equipment selection, then coordinate the full install including sheetmetal and controls.
Biermann does not fabricate or install ductwork and sheetmetal in-house. That is a specialty trade, and the shops that do it well have shop fabrication floors and full-time fabricators. We do not pretend to be a sheetmetal company. Instead, we partner with vetted, experienced local fabrication shops for every project that needs it.
On your end, nothing changes. You still deal with one point of contact (us), one proposal, one schedule, and one warranty conversation. We handle the equipment selection, the controls, the install of the mechanical side, and we coordinate directly with the duct fabrication partner on sizing, runs, registers, and commissioning. It is one of the reasons homeowners and property managers keep calling: no scope gaps, no finger-pointing, no “that is the other guy’s job.”
The same owner-involved crew that has been handling Western Mass plumbing since 1983 now runs our residential and light commercial HVAC service.
Keeping your home or property running safely is our core business. We build long-term relationships, not one-off transactions.
Two trades, one dedicated crew. From an emergency call at your house to a ground-up commercial build, you never juggle multiple contractors.
Four decades of working in active homes, apartment complexes, dental offices, and banks. Clean worksites, low noise, and respect for your space.
Prevailing wage, certified payrolls, public bidding, and strict documentation. Most small shops won't touch public projects. We welcome them.
Residential homeowners come first. Multi-residential, commercial, and municipal HVAC round out the department.
Plumbing repairs, water heaters, HVAC, leak detection, and remodels.
Ongoing service, capital upgrades, new construction.
Banks, mixed-use, restaurants, and commercial spaces.
Hospitals, clinics, dental offices. Service and small projects.
Public buildings, prevailing wage, certified payrolls.
Boilers, kitchens, restrooms, public facilities.
Same process for homeowners and light commercial properties. Fast response, honest estimate, clean install, 1-year labor warranty.
Tell us what is going on. No heat, no A/C, old system you want to replace, new install on a house that never had central air. Consultations are free. Formal written estimates with load review are $65.
We walk your home or building, check the existing mechanicals, run a proper load review, and recommend equipment sized for your actual space. No guesses, no pushy upsells on systems you do not need.
Our licensed crew installs, tests, and walks you through the system. Every new HVAC install comes with a 1-year labor warranty, and we can set you up on a seasonal maintenance plan to protect your investment.
Yes. Residential A/C and heating is our growth department. We install and service central air, ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, and furnaces for homeowners across all of Western Massachusetts, plus Enfield and Suffield, Connecticut. From a single-family A/C install to a heating tune-up before winter, your home gets the same licensed crew and 1-year labor warranty.
We manage the overall HVAC system from design-assist through equipment selection, installation, controls, and ongoing service. Sheetmetal fabrication and custom ductwork is outsourced to trusted specialty partners. We coordinate the fabrication and installation directly, so you still deal with one point of contact and one set of crews showing up at your home or property.
